Create a modern mobile app focused on elevating women’s professional sports.
the goal
Women's sports fans need a mobile app to easily facilitate their fantasy sports leagues and stay up to date on their favorite women's sports teams.
Current fantasy sports apps overwhelmingly focus on men's sports, while the women focused platforms are slow, convoluted and not optimized for mobile use. The goal of this passion project is to address these issues - creating a mobile-first design that prioritizes women's sports, both real-life leagues, such as the NWSL and WNBA, and their fantasy league counterparts.
a new path
For this project I found it easiest, and more approachable, to start off with sketching. I did a combination of sketching on my iPad and on a physical pen & paper (like the old days!).
From there I imported back sketches into Figma and began to wireframe out some of the components I knew I would be reusing the most. With some of the elements created I was able to piece together some early screens, creating any other necessary components along the way. Having these reusable pieces is especially great for when I (inevitably) make changes to the ui down the road.
With some of the basic screens created I can start establishing how they will connect and determine the most common workflows that I need. This is the step that I am currently on! Creating filler and in-between stage screens to connect screens in the flows more smoothly, as well as noting any unique/special use case screens that need to be considered.

The main struggle I am encountering thus far in this project is simply the fact that I am largely designing in a vacuum. While I can get some insights here and there from different friends, it's so far been a challenge to receive both quantity and quality feedback.
As the project progresses, and depending on financial limitations, I hope to do more ux research with more real users. I also hope that the feedback I receive from these sessions with users will narrow my direction and give me a clearer path forward (right now the sky is the limit so it is difficult to be disciplined and not get distracted and bounce around between screens and ideas - a blessing and a curse).
